About Experience Harlem
There is so much history and culture in Harlem and it truly doesn’t get enough recognition. Harlem is a part of Manhattan, but rarely is it referenced in this way. Since my first-ever visit to Harlem, NY, in the summer of 1997, I fell in love with what had been considered the Black Mecca of NYC.
When I came to NY in 2003, there was hardly any mention of Harlem activity in Time Out or Zagat. I saw a space and opportunity to use my background and experiences to launch an essential guide to Harlem.
In 2005, I launched Experience Harlem. Today, Experience Harlem is an award-winning marketing solutions multimedia company that connects consumers with upper Manhattan's best shopping, dining, arts & culture venues.
And over the years, we have expanded the scope of Experience Harlem. Among the company's products are: Essential Harlem Guide, an annual booklet highlighting the best of Harlem; Experience Harlem’s website, a continually updated site and blog; Experience Harlem-curated Events & Experiences–the pioneer of the original Harlem bar and restaurant crawls; e x p e r i e n c e s, a periodic newsletter offering sneak peeks and inside looks into the best of Harlem; Experience Harlem App.
Angie Hancock, Founder & President
Experience Harlem President & Founder, Angie Hancock was a marketing leader with Fortune 500 corporations such as Sara Lee, Ann Taylor Inc, Mars Inc. (M&M’s), ESSENCE and EBONY Magazines. She obtained her MBA in marketing and entrepreneurship from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, is a CPA and was awarded The Network Journal’s 40 Under Forty Achiever, Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce Women of Distinction, Bradhurst Merchant Association’s Business of the Year and Harlem Fashion Week.
