If getting in shape is on your to do list this year, there are several places in Harlem to help work off the holiday excess and keep you on the right track towards a prosperous year. If you’re like most people, convenience is a must when selecting a gym. To help you stay committed to your fitness goals the Harlem YMCA located at 180 W 135th St (between Malcolm X Blvd and ACP Jr. Blvd) offers an affordable membership with a ton of perks. The clubhouse opens from 5:30 am-11:00 pm on weekdays, 6am to 8pm on Saturdays, and 8am to 8pm on Sundays. The YMCA membership comes with free group exercise classes, free supervised child watch, swimming pools, steam and sauna rooms; and a strength training weight room. The Harlem YMCA will be conducting open houses every other Saturday in January 2016 from 12-4 pm, if you would like more information we encourage you to attend. What better way to start a new year, healthier, happier, relaxed, and stress free. Land Yoga at 2116 Frederick Douglass Blvd (between 114th and 115th Streets) goal is to do just that! Ashtanga style and Mysore yoga is taught at the studio seven days per week. Land Yoga’s aims to help teach you proper breathing techniques, and gain a clear sense of mind, body, and spirit. For new students a one month unlimited membership starts at $150, payment plans are also available. Balanced Pilates at 305 W 123rd St offers private, small group, duet, and duet for two sessions Monday-Friday 7am-9am, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 am-4pm.
