  • LAND YOGA SUMMER SOLSTICE

We will start the event off with a free one-hour yoga class open to the public at 11am, taught by all three teachers, Lara, Dana, and Michael. At 12pm, we will have an Ashtanga Yoga Demonstration outside of the studio followed by live music by Fort Vine and Ryan McGale of Make Music New York. The final event will be a Summer Solstice Ritual at 12:30pm in the yoga studio. We will have guests write a wish or goal on a slip of paper and attach it to a sun wheel that we will have in the studio. There will also be chanting, an explanation of the Summer Solstice, and various prizes. The event is being sponsored by Yli Factory Cupcakes, as they are providing our event with mini cupcakes for our guests, and Seasoned Vegan, a restaurant in Harlem that is providing samples of vegan “chicken” nuggets to the event. #cultural #guide #essential #event #Harlem #local #Uptown #culture #NewYork #experienceharlem #experience #ExperienceHarlem #NYC #shoplocal #harlemnyc #harlemites #NY

  • Octo-BEER-fetes in Harlem

By Kysha Harris @SCHOPgirl Next to tacos and tequila we at Experience Harlem like some suds. Enter the month of October! (cue the beer angels…) And though the official Oktoberfest has come to an end, there is are still plenty of time in the month and places in Harlem to enjoy a glass, a can, a bottle, a pint or a stein. One of the newest that was old and now new again is Riverbank Grill (@riverbankgrill, 679 Riverside Drive, 212.234.1023, www.riverbankgrill.com) right in Riverbank State Park off 145th street. Riverbank Grill is a beer garden and restaurant overlooking the Hudson River offering views of the George Washington Bridge, more than 30 local and international beers and American pub-style food. The 5,000 square foot space has plenty of elbowroom both indoors and out for gatherings and for private dining. Go for weekend brunch before spending a day in the park, sip drinks while watching the sun go down behind the Palisades, or take a break while cycling up the Hudson River Greenway. Other notable Harlem beer handouts to get your suds fix must include Bier International (@bierint, 2099 Frederick Couglass Blvd, 212.280.0944, www.bierinternational.com). There is plenty from which to choose, but Belgian varietal always speaks to us. A couple of glasses of Duvel with truffle fries and some form of tubular meat will treat you right every time! Lastly, when something pops up temporarily in Harlem, you go! Harlem Brew (@harlembrew) has a created a Brew Garden Pop Up at MIST (@myimagestudios, 46 West 116th St, between 5th and Lenox Avenues) every Thursday through Sunday, 12-4pm and 6-10pm, through November 3rd. We will definitely be theere for “brewunch” one Sunday. In closing we offer two words – DRINK BEER! #cultural #guide #essential #event #Harlem #local #Uptown #culture #NewYork #experienceharlem #experience #ExperienceHarlem #NYC #shoplocal #harlemnyc #harlemites #NY
